Do I need to know how to code, or how to trade?
Neither — and both are welcome. Ask the Strategy Coach for ideas, or describe your own in plain words, and it writes the rule and explains every line. If you'd rather write it yourself, a strategy is JavaScript in a sandbox, and the editor, indicator library and backtester are yours to use directly. The library at app.botstock.ai/learn covers everything from what a strategy is to why win rate misleads, and it's written for someone who has never placed a trade.
Does BotStock tell me which stocks to buy?
No. There are no tips, no signal feed, and the AI never gives an opinion of a stock. You build the strategy; BotStock tests it, runs it and explains it. The one place the AI narrows down symbols is the shortlist, and only when you ask: it backtests your own rule against your own watchlist, keeps the symbols the rule has suited, shows you the results, and can be undone.
Does the AI change my strategy while it's trading?
Not unless you've said it can. The optimizer works on copies: it tries variations, validates them on data they were never tuned on, and brings you the ones that genuinely improve. You review what changed and decide what gets promoted. Letting it promote on its own is a permission you grant, per strategy, and can take back.
Do I have to sit and watch it?
No. The engine runs through the session whether or not you're signed in, and writes down every decision with its reason. If you want to see it work first, have it ask before each trade; when you're ready, turn that off and read the record instead. One click halts new trades at any time.
Is BotStock a broker? Does it hold my money?
No and no. Every account starts on BotStock's own paper account — real prices, practice money, no brokerage needed. When you're ready, connect your own brokerage account (Tradier today) and the same strategies send their orders there. Your money stays with your broker. Your brokerage token is encrypted the moment you enter it and is never displayed again.
Will it trade real money?
Only when you decide. Every account starts on paper — real prices, imaginary money — and can stay there as long as you like. Going live means connecting your own brokerage account and turning on two separate switches, one of which only you can turn on. You choose how much to hand over, from approving each trade to letting the engine run unattended.
What does it cost?
Nothing during the alpha. We'll talk about pricing with the people who've been using it before anyone is asked to pay, and cancelling will always wind live trading down gracefully rather than closing your positions.
When can I get in?
We're inviting a small group at a time so we can talk to each of them. Join the waitlist and you'll hear from us when a seat opens — and about nothing else. What's coming next: a morning brief in plain words, a second opinion from the advisor on every trade the engine proposes, and an evening debrief.
